JOHNSON – Maudie Chaffin, 87, died Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Stanton County Hospital in Johnson.
She was born June 28, 1936 to Nels and Rozella (Carroll) Jensen.
She married Barry R. Chaffin Dec. 25, 1982. He preceded her in death.
She worked at K&S Meats, was a dietician and CNA at Stanton County Hospital, Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, and also at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
She and Barry owned and operated Top Hat Tavern.
Survivors include her children: Jerry Twilleger and wife, Sharon, Garden City, Randy Twilleger and wife, Sherri, Cañon City, Colo., John Twilleger, Paola, Sherry Twilleger, Johnson, and Mark Twilleger, Johnson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Dennis and Bill Twilleger; three brothers: Carroll Jensen, Harold Jensen and Nels Jensen, Jr.; and sister, Eva Butler.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, with Pastor Bob LeVene presiding.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
