Donald Lee Potter, 87, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 in Walters, Okla.
He was born April 14, 1937 to Horace Lee and Wilmuth Lee (Skaggs) Potter.
He married Doris Joann Caldwell Nov. 30, 1955. She survives.
He graduated as valedictorian of his high school class in 1955, and later graduated from Oklahoma University while participating in basketball, baseball, and working part time. He received his Master of Science degree from Oklahoma State University.
He taught math and coached at numerous schools across Oklahoma for 35 years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing bridge and other games.
He was a faithful member of the Walters First United Methodist Church and instilled those beliefs in his family.
Survivors also include his four children: Richard and wife, Beca Potter, Walters, Okla., Barbara and husband, Gary Tahmahkera, Cache, Okla., Russell Potter, Fort Cobb, Okla., and Randall and wife, Edwina Potter, Fort Cobb; grandchildren: Tyson Potter and Lacey, Walters, Okla., Taylor Noland and Ryan, Walters, Okla., Olivia Potter, Edmond, Okla., Kerry Tahmahkera and Alex, Durango, Colo., Kelsey Tahmahkera and Tony, Wichita Falls, Texas, Madison Geiger and Seth, Snyder, Okla., Chris Potter and Cady, Ft. Cobb, and Adam Potter and Jessica, Cache; great-grandchildren: Caleb and Sarah, Aksel, Hayden, Harper, Marquise, Malia and Fendi, KG and Koan; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Richard, Dan Potter, Joe Potter and Gwen Long; and daughter-in-law, Pam Potter.
• Funeral services took place Tuesday, August 6, 2024, with Rev. Brantley Tillery, Rev. Gary Tahmahkera and Rev. Roger Noland presiding.
Burial took place at the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, Okla.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or to the Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
