PLAINS – Gerald W. Hill, 89, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 at the Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

He was born Nov. 27, 1934 to Roy and Wilma (Cullumber) Hill.

He married Anna Strader June 20, 1954. She survives.

He graduated from Wellington High School in 1952. 

He served as the manager of the fertilizer department for the Plains Equity Exchange for eight years. He later began farming.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lions Club, and the Plains Co-Op. He enjoyed antique tractors, woodworking, traveling in their motor home, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors also include his children, Deborah Benjamin, Plains, Kathryn Haynes, Hugoton, and Jeffery Hill, Nashville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Sylvester; great-grandson, Dominic Esarey; and brothers, Ronald and Richard Hill.

• Funeral services took place Monday, Aug. 5, 2024.

Burial took place at the Plains Cemetery in Plains.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
