ULYSSES – Armandina (Mandy) Franco, 68, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Jan. 10, 1956 to Armando and Aurora (Sanchez) Franco.
At the age of 12, she became the pianist at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Garden City.
After graduation, she moved back to Ulysses and worked at Moody’s Engine for 21 years as a secretary and bookkeeper. She also worked for Franco Brothers and retired from the Grant County Senior Center in 2021.
She was a founding member of the Lakin Assembly of God Church in 1979.
She not only loved to play the piano, but she had an amazing singing voice and recorded a gospel album with her brothers in 1995.
She loved to cook for her family and treasured the time she spent with her nieces and nephews.
She was a prayer warrior, worshipper, and enjoyed baking, crafting and showering her great-nephews and nieces with love.
Survivors include her siblings: Pastor Rafael Franco and wife, Ludi, Lakin, Mike Franco, Ulysses, Homer Franco and wife Mavi, Ulysses, Olivia Salsedo, Garden City, and Eddie Franco and wife, Jean; sisters-in-law, Enedelia Franco, Monett, Mo., and Delaine Franco, Hugoton; brother-in-law, Jeff Fowler, Ulysses; five godchildren: Veronica Franco, Abram Sanchez, Mason Franco, Crystal De La Paz, and Alexxi Gonzalez; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Santos Franco and Pastor Israel Franco; sister, Elida Fowler; and brother-in-law, Felix Salsedo.
• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2024 at Oasis Church in Ulysses, with Pastor Rafael Franco presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, and from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lakin Assembly of God Church.
