Western Kansas Community Foundation
GARDEN CITY – Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF) is awarding four community grants of $15,000 each to organizations in Cimarron, Lakin, Liberal and Hugoton following the November grant cycle.
The grants are part of the “Our Community, Our Future” initiative launched by WKCF earlier this year.
“Our Community, Our Future” is a three-year initiative consisting of three components, funded by WKCF: A community survey, a community forum and a grant opportunity.
According to Executive Director Conny Bogaard, the initiative is meant to bring local leaders together to discuss their community’s most pressing needs.
“We know there is a lot of talent and opportunity, and we want to empower local leadership in addressing broad community needs. WKCF wants to not only understand their priorities but also, be part of the solution,” Bogaard said.
The winning “Our Community, Our Future” grants are:
• Cimarron: Bluejay Education Foundation “Daycare Start Up Supplies & Equipment” – $15,000
• Hugoton: Stevens County Hospital “Pioneer Manor Bus” – $15,000
• Lakin: Lakin Community Empowerment Group “Sidewalk Solutions” – $15,000
• Liberal: Tri-Agency Intervention “Transitional Housing Assistance” – $15,000
Staff of WKCF always welcomes visiting with donors or those interested in contributing to the unrestricted funds so we can help with more community projects.
The next grant deadline is March 1, 2025, and will open early next year. To learn more about grant guidelines visit the WKCF website at www.wkcf.org, call at 620-271-9484 or stop by the office at 402 N. Main Street in downtown Garden City.
