Wednesday morning, deputies with the Seward County Sheriff’s office seized about 45 pounds of methamphetamine as part of a traffic stop for a traffic violation on U.S. Highway 54 near Kismet.
Undersheriff Ryan Roehr said in a press release, during traffic enforcement, a deputy observed numerous indicators of criminal activity.
“A subsequent search revealed vacuum sealed bundles of suspected methamphetamine,” he said.
Roehr said the total approximate weight of the meth located was 45 pounds, and a 48-year-old male was taken into custody and logged in the Seward County Jail in this incident.
“The Seward County Sheriff’s office coordinated focus on the trafficking and distribution of narcotics is helping keep these dangerous drugs out of our communities and others,” he said.
Roehr reminded the public the person or persons involved have not yet been convicted of a crime and are presumed innocent.
“The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time the person(s) accused may be found guilty by a court of law,” he said.
