A Guymon, Okla., man is dead following a fatality accident Friday morning near that Panhandle community.
Around 7:30 a.m. Friday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Peterbilt tractor was eastbound on Texas County Road Y at Mile 30 about one mile south and one mile west of Guymon.
At that time, a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 was northbound on Texas County Road 30, when OHP said the semi struck the driver’s side of the pickup in the intersection for an unknown reason.
The driver of the Peterbilt, Cory D. Hammonds, 59, of Perryton, Texas, was transported by EMS to Memorial Hospital of Texas County. From there, he was medi-flighted by Apollo to Texas Trauma Center with trunk internal injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, 27-year-old Treyton K. Mussman of Guymon, was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner investigator.
OHP said neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
