GARDEN CITY – U.S. Senator Dr. Roger Marshall is pleased to announce the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Wichita field office is continuing its monthly mobile immigration services in Southwest Kansas through FY 2025.
Starting in 2019, Sen. Marshall began to advocate for an increase in the frequency of mobile services in Southwest Kansas.
His advocacy was a direct response to feedback from immigrants and employers, who described the logistical and financial barriers for applicants traveling to Wichita or Kansas City to fulfill various in-person requirements for legal immigration status.
After a pause in efforts during the pandemic, Senators Marshall and Congressman Mann sent a letter to USCIS requesting that USCIS expand services in Southwest Kansas.
USCIS staff from the Wichita Field Office now provide in-person mobile services monthly, rotating between Garden City, Dodge City and Liberal. In February, USCIS is traveling to Liberal; they are scheduled to provide services in Dodge City in March and in Garden City in April.
In-person services include biometrics capture appointments as well as citizenship interviews. USCIS has also held judicial Naturalization Ceremonies in Dodge City, so that new citizens in Southwest Kansas can take their official Oath of Allegiance and receive their Certificate of Naturalization.
Appointments for mobile services in Southwest Kansas are scheduled in the same manner as appointments made at the Wichita Field Office.
Once applications are processed by USCIS and ready for relevant in-person services, USCIS notifies the applicant to schedule the appointment. Immigrant applicants cannot make requests to USCIS or to Senator Marshall’s office to make appointments at the mobile services.
