Food and fun will be looking to help enhance this summer in Liberal thanks to the return of a big event.
The 2025 Food Truck Saturdays will take place Saturday, June 28 and Saturday, July 26, with the locations still to be determined.
As coordinator Amanda Devellen tells it, there is a lot of excitement for this coming summer.
“We're really excited, and we're focusing on just those two events for the summer because we want to grow the event and make it really, really big for summer 2026,” Devellen said. “We're really looking forward to getting the word out there, and this event is all about giving back to the community. I'm looking forward to getting people coming into Liberal and getting people to try all the food trucks, because they're all really good. I want to see people together and having fun enjoying the music and seeing children running around and playing. I'm looking forward to seeing as many people as possible come to town, and that will also make them want to shop local and help put that 1-cent sales tax to good use. I'm wanting everyone to come out, have a great time and enjoy the food trucks and fellowship. Events like this help make Liberal better, and we're also looking for volunteers and other board members to help shape this event and help grow Food Truck Saturdays as a whole.”
To help make Food Truck Saturdays as big as possible, Devellen said additional people are needed.
“In terms of entertainment, we are open to anything. If you're a singer, or if you have a band or some other musical group, or if you have a dance group, we'd love to have you perform those days,” Devellen said. “If you're interested in having a set, contact me at (317) 496-8789, and I'll help set that up, or send an email to
With past Food Truck Saturdays events being successful, Devellen said she wants to keep that momentum going this year.
“This year, we're really excited to focus on these two days and making them as big as possible. I hope we see crowds like what we've seen the past couple years, and hopefully even bigger because again, this is truly something that's for the community to experience,” Devellen said. “Food Truck Saturdays has been really big for us, it's really helped Liberal, and I want to see the same thing continue to happen. We're a smaller city, and this is a great way to bring people into town and try not only the food trucks, but also shop in our stores and possibly stay in our hotels. Continuing this event will help Liberal continue to grow and become a destination. We're also working among the committee to also have something with the Liberal AirFair in October and bring food trucks there as well and make that a big event. I'd also love to see more people on the committee and more volunteers, because something like this definitely takes a lot of time and manpower.”
Overall, Devellen said, she hopes to see big turnout for those two days.
“This is a great chance to be part of the change we want to see in Liberal, and it's a great chance to support local businesses who are taking time out of their usual schedule to come and sell food and be part of this,” Devellen said. “Come out, be an encouragement for these people and be part of a big community event. Like I've said before, it's events like this that help make Liberal better, and it's events like this that really help build those great memories. I know there are people who grumble about the lack of things to do in Liberal, so come out and be part of that change and help support these Food Truck Saturdays so we can continue doing this and maybe even expand it. It's also important for people to be involved in their community and show support, and this is a great way to do that. We're really focusing on making these two Food Truck Saturdays events really big, and I'd love to see huge crowds both of those days. And again, if you're a singer or band or dance group or something like that and would like to perform, please get in touch with us and we'll get everything set up for you. We want to continue making Food Truck Saturdays big, and we can't do that without people!”
