Police are investigating a death that allegedly happened in a train versus pedestrian accident last week in Guymon, Okla.
The Guymon Police Department issued a press release saying shortly before 12:30 a.m. last Thursday, officers received a call in regards to an accident at Railroad and North Main Street involving a train against a pedestrian.
“It was determined the pedestrian was deceased,” the release said. “This case is still under investigation, and the individual’s family has been notified. Please be respectful of the family and their privacy following the tragic incident.”
An accident in Kiowa County also killed one Meade adult and two Meade youth last Wednesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 2000 Ford F150 was westbound in the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 54 about nine miles west of Greensburg, with a 2020 Freightliner eastbound in the eastbound lane.
KHP said the semi went left of center to avoid the pickup when the pickup rentered the westbound lane and impacted the semi.
The F150’s driver, 68-year-old Teresa Christine Davis of Meade, and two youth, Hunter Welch, 10, and Travis Welch, 13, both of Meade, were taken to Dodge City Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
The Freightliner’s driver, 22-year-old Dishant Kukreja of Sunnyvale, Calif., suffered no apparent injury, according to KHP. The agency said both drivers and both passengers were wearing seat belts at the time.
