Main Revelation opened its first location in Hugoton in 2019 and officially opened a Liberal location at 206 N. Kansas Ave. in August 2024.

Recently, Beth Beard and Pamela Hamlin announced they will be stepping away from the business in a statement on social media.

“Dearest friends and cherished customers of Main Revelation, It's with a mix of emotions that Beth and I share some news. After 10 years of laughter, shared stories, custom creations, and shopping , we've decided it's time for us to embark on new chapters in our lives. We are thrilled to announce that Main Revelation is under new ownership!” the statement read. “We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you who supported our dream and made Main Revelation such a special place. Your loyalty, smiles, and friendships have meant the world to us. Building this boutique and being a part of the Hugoton community has been an absolute joy. Beth and I believe the new owners will bring great energy and enthusiasm to Main Revelation. We encourage you to continue supporting the boutique and extending to them the same warm welcome you always gave us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for the memories, the support, and the incredible journey. We will always treasure our time at The Main Revelation. As we step into tour next adventures, we wish you all the very best.”

Store patrons should not fear the store closing, however, as new owners Blanca and Alfredo Cantu announced they will be taking over the business. Conversations about the change in ownership began last year, according to Blanca.

“I used to work at Great Plains Gas Compression in Hugoton, and I started my own little embroidery business last year. We eventually went to a show in Hugoton and Beth [Beard] had asked a coworker of mine for contact information, and then she gave me a call,” Blanca said. “I initially thought she was going to ask me for some of my embroidery work to put in the store, but she actually ended up asking me if I wanted to take over the store. We decided to go for it, and now here we are. I knew I wanted to, at some point, open my own store for my embroidery, so that was something I already knew I wanted. After Beth called, we talked about it and prayed about it a lot. Things kept popping up in life that made it difficult for me to get my own premises, but when this opportunity came along, I knew God had picked the right time and place for me to be able to do that. Owning your own business is always the dream, and again, that was always a goal of mine, so I'm glad we took the leap. We signed May 7 to officially take everything over, so it's been a quick turnaround.”

“I've worked out of American Implement out of Hugoton, which is the John Deere dealership there, and I've also worked as a truck driver for about six years, and I've been in sales for about four years now. And now I come by Main Revelation after working there and help Blanca,” Alfredo added.

So far, the Cantus agreed, taking over the business has been a learning experience.

“Like any business venture, things take a bit of time to really get going, so right now, we're learning how the business runs and meeting customers and figuring out some of the logistical stuff,” Blanca said.

“I'd thought, since we were taking over an established business, things would be easy, but there's definitely been a lot to learn so far,” Alfredo added with a chuckle.

“We're learning a lot about the different parts of the business and it's been very interesting so far.”

With everything still being new, the Cantus agreed they are excited for this new chapter and hope to see a lot of customers.

“I'm really excited to have some of my stuff out in the store and branching out. We want to have not just women's clothing but also children's clothing and men's clothing and some other accessories,” Blanca said. “There aren't really very many boutique places in town that have men's clothing, so that's definitely something we want to expand on. I'd love for people to just come in and see everything we have. Come in and browse around, because you might find exactly what you're looking for for your outfit. And if anyone has any suggestions or feedback as far as what we should carry or anything like that, let us know, because we're all about helping people stay local and shop local. We're both from this area and have children going to school and all of that, and we're really thankful to have this opportunity for this business. And with us being on main streets in both Hugoton and Liberal, I would encourage people to be more aware of us, especially since we're a smaller and local business.”

“I'd love to see the business grow, I'd love to see just how big we can get. We've got three children, so I'd love to have something to build for them,” Alfredo added. “We're going to keep things the same as much as possible while adding our own small twists to the business. We'd love to see anyone and everyone come in and do some shopping. If we get a big enough clientele and enough customers, I wouldn't entirely rule out getting a bigger building to accommodate all of that. Since we're still rather new to all of this, it is kind of hard to tell what the future will be like, but we're really excited.”
