L&T staff report

The Seward County Sheriff’s office released the results from its Memorial Day Click It or Ticket campaign Monday.

Deputies issued 67 speeding tickets and five DUI arrests, and a total 76 tickets were issued for seat belt violations, with 59 of those being for adults, three for teenagers and four for children ages birth to 13.

The sheriff’s office also issued three texting and driving tickets, and another 143 citations were issued, making for a total of 284 citations and arrests made over the Memorial Day holiday.

That number is out of the 347 enforcement contacts or stops made by deputies over the weekend. Four standardized field sobriety tests were also conducted, with no arrests made, and eight other non-DUI arrests were made.
