Residents on Spruce Street got a shocking wake-up call due to a structure fire early Thursday morning.
The Liberal Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at 725 E. Spruce Street at 3:11 a.m. Thursday.
“The first arriving crews found a vehicle on fire and flames spreading to the garage of the residence. Crews began extinguishment of the vehicle and checking the garage and house for extension,” a release from the LFD noted. “Finding no fire extension into the interior of the garage or the residence, crews were able to get the fire under control at 3:26 a.m. The residence was then ventilated by fire crews. Fire crews checked the neighboring house for fire extension, and found no fire extension to the interior. The fire was declared out at 3:46 a.m. Fire crews stayed on scene conducting overhaul operations and cleared the scene at 5 a.m. All units were back in service at 5:32 a.m. There were no injuries reported as a cause of this fire.”
Responding were two engines, two support vehicles, and 15 personnel.
