A Liberal teen suffered a suspected minor injury Tuesday night in an accident in Lyon County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported shortly before midnight Tuesday, for an unknown reason, a 2008 Lexus L460 struck a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer from behind on Interstate 335 about 25 miles northeast of Emporia.

This, KHP said, caused both vehicles to enter the ditch, and upon entering the ditch, the Trailblazer rolled at least one time, coming to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The Lexus’s driver, 46-year-old Chester Wood of Kansas City, Mo., suffered a possible injury.  The Trailblazer’s driver, Elizabeth Mannel, 19, of Liberal, was taken to Newman Regional Hospital with a suspected minor injury.

KHP said both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
