Traffic reductions are scheduled to start Wednesday for a resurfacing project along Kansas Highway 156 and Kansas Avenue from just east of Third Street to Belmont Place in Garden City, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

This project consists of resurfacing the concrete pavement and widening the roadway. K-156/Kansas Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction with a width restriction of 10 feet and a speed limit reduction of 20 mph. Motorists should be aware of delays of 5-10 minutes in the project. Signs and cones will mark the lane reduction.

Smoky Hill LLC. of Salina, is the contractor on this $1.4 million project, which is expected to be completed by the beginning of October, weather permitting.

For more information on this project, contact Craig Schlott P.E., Construction Engineer, at (620) 765-7096, or Yazmin Moreno, KDOT Southwest Region Public Affairs Manager, at (620) 260-6397.
