Injuries were reported in one accident last week, while injuries were avoided in another accident in Liberal.

The injury accident took place shortly before 5 p.m. last Thursday when officers and emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Trail Street and Grant Avenue.

A release from the Liberal Police Department said through investigation, officers determined a white 2012 Ford Focus was stopped at the intersection of South Grant Avenue and Trail Street.

“The driver then proceeded past the stop sign and was struck by a white 2016 Chevrolet Malibu,” the release said.

The driver of the Focus was cited for running a stop sign, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance. Injuries were reported on scene. However, EMS transport was refused.

The non-injury accident took place shortly after 11:30 a.m. Friday when officers and emergency personnel responded to the intersection of 11th Street and Kansas Avenue.

“Through the investigation, officers determined a 2015 Chrysler 200 was traveling eastbound on 11th Street when it failed to stop at a red light and was struck by a white 2014 Dodge Ram 1500,” an LPD release said.

No injuries were reported on scene, but the driver of the Chrysler was cited for running a red light.
