Two Plains residents were taken to Southwest Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after a pickup struck a semi in eastern Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia was northbound on Seward County Road O shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, and a 2003 Chevy Silverado was westbound on U.S. Highway 54.

KHP said the semi failed to yield to the pickup, and the Silverado struck the Freightliner.

The semi’s driver, 27-year-old Oscar Jovanny Diaz-Ramirez, had no apparent injury. KHP did not list a town or a state of residence in the report.

The pickup’s driver, Luis Angel Dominguez Galindo, 27, and a passenger, 24-year-old Astrid Alazahy Gonzalez, both of Plains, were taken to SWMC with suspected minor injuries.

KHP said all involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts at the time.
