Kismet Methodist Women to host upcoming events

The Kismet Methodist Women will host their annual chicken and noodle dinner Wednesday, Nov. 13. The dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Kismet Methodist Church at 806 Main Street in Kismet. Dine-in or carry-out options for the meal will be available. The menu for the dinner will be chicken and homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, seasoned green beans, fresh garden vegetables, dinner roll, and a variety of homemade desserts. A free will offering will be taken.

Early voting off to strong start

Love it or hate it, advance voting is here to stay, and according to Seward County Clerk Stacia Long, it’s been growing locally.

“I’ve actually seen increased early voting for quite some time,” she said. “We had early voting across from my office when it started, and we had to move upstairs to accommodate the number of voters we had. We’ve always had pretty good early voting turnout. It’s not one party or the other, it’s all of our voters.”

For sisters Judy Scott and Amy Pilger, the path to the art world took decidedly different journeys.

Scott said she never intended to become an artist, and now even in her 80s, she does not feel she has achieved that status yet. On the other hand, Pilger learned from what both called a creative mother.

Pilger said her mom taught her a layer of contact paper can improve anything.

District recognizes recipients of the ‘Five Cs’

The USD 480 school board made quick work of the old and new business on its agenda at its most recent meeting Monday evening.

Before the meeting’s new business, however, the district recognized recipients of the district’s new Five C’s (Communication, Collaboration, Caring, Conviction, College & Career) honor. The recipients honored at Monday’s meeting were Alejandra Moreno, Matthew McIntyre, Jamie Downs, Tasha Ebeling, Sheila Medina, Paul Fisher, Pedro Arellano, Rusty Tuman, and Joel Plummer.

KDOT encourages participation in bus study survey to improve long-distance services

Kansas Department of Transportation

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces the launch of a comprehensive bus study survey to enhance public transportation services across the state.

Anyone can take the survey, especially users of public transit and intercity bus services. The survey will take about six minutes to complete and is available online at surveymonkey.com/r/KDOT-IntercityBusCommunitySurvey. The survey will close Nov. 30.
