City of Liberal staff has been working on projects to help improve the quality of life throughout the community and recently, one of those projects was finished.
Splash pad projects at McCray Park and Mahuron Park had soft openings last weekend, and Liberal City Manager Rusty Varnado and Special Projects Manager Steve Carroll said they are pleased with the outcome.
The Guymon Police Department has been made aware of individuals spoofing the police department phone number and stating they are with the GPD.
“They will state there is a warrant out for your arrest, and you need to send money in order to take care of the warrant,” a post on GPD’s Facebook page said.
Guymon PD reminds everyone the department will never call and ask for money over the phone.
“If you receive a suspicious phone call from our (580) 338-6525 number, please ask for a name and badge number from the individual, and contact the police department to confirm,” the post said.

Two people were transported to Southwest Medical Center following an accident Saturday morning in downtown Liberal.
The Liberal Police Department issued a release Monday, saying the accident happened around 10:15 a.m. when officers were dispatched to the area of Pancake Boulevard and Kansas Avenue for a report of a hit and run accident.
“Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver of a white 2015 Buick Enclave, a 71-year-old female, who stated the vehicle she collided with had left the scene,” the release said.
The USD 480 school board kept things simple at its most recent meeting Monday evening.
Among the items of new business on the agenda was discussion of an agreement with Edustaff for the 2024-25 school year.
