After suffering a 1-0 loss to Dodge City and a 1-1 tie with Garden City, the Liberal Redskin soccer team traveled to Lamar, Colo., and came away with a 5-0 win.
The Redskins dominated shots on goal in the first half but couldn’t score. Liberal outshot Lamar 15-1, but the two teams headed to halftime tied 0-0.
Suain Moncayo finally found the net 3:45 into the second half to give the Redskins a 1- lead.
Jaden Gonzalez sent a pass to Moncayo 12 minutes into the second half for a goal and a 2-0 lead.
Giezi Gonzalez then helped Moncayo complete the hat trick 17:30 into the second half with a pass before Moncayo’s third goal and a 3-0 Liberal lead.
Moncayo scored his fourth goal of the game with an assist form Josh Garcia on a corner kick, and Moncayo found Giovani Barrera with a pass, and Barrera score the final goal of the game with two minutes to play for the 5-0 win.
The Redskins are currently fifth in the Class 6A West standings with a 6-1-1 record. Dodge City is first at 8-0 followed by Wichita Southeast (9-0-1), Topeka (7-1-0), Derby (7-1-0) and Liberal.
The Redskins return to Western Athletic Conference action Thursday when they host the Hays Indians (4-3).
