Four drives for the Liberal Redskins reached the red zone but ended with no points, and a late Dodge City touchdown and a pick six put the game out of reach in a 33-14 loss.

Liberal forced a turnover after a long Dodge City drive to start the game, and Liberal marched 84 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

Dodge City responded with a touchdown drive for a 7-7 tie, and the next, and Liberal’s next drive ended at the Dodge 3 yard line. Liberal then had a drive end with a punt, and the next drive ended with an interception at the goal line.

Dodge City scored on three of its four first half possessions to lead 21-7 at half.

Liberal threw another interception at the Dodge City 19 yard line to open the third quarter, and after a Red Demon punt, the Redskins marched back to the 19 yard line before the drive stalled.

Tevin Cotter later threw a 33 yard touchdown pass to James Fieser to cut the lead to 21-14, but Dodge responded with a touchdown drive to extend the lead to 27-14, and Cotter threw his third interception on the first play of the ensuing drive that was returned for a touchdown, and what was a one-score game quickly turned into a three-score lead in 10 seconds.

Liberal fell 33-14.

Liberal (3-1) hosts Garden City (1-3) Friday.
