Special to the Leader & Times

Monday night, the Seymour Rogers eighth Grade A Team faced off against Eisenhower Middle School at SRMS in an exciting match. Both teams showcased incredible skill and determination, but the Lady Apaches triumphed, winning in two sets, 25-18 and a thrilling 26-24.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our team,” Coach Sill said. “They played aggressively at the net, seizing opportunities for blocks and kills. The support from our back row was equally impressive, as they made crucial digs whenever the ball slipped past the initial block.”

Avril Maldonado led the charge with five aces, including the match point in Set 2.

Brianna Mendoza, Janelle Aquino, Kate Cordes and Ava Ruiz were exceptional at the net, delivering some of the best individual and double blocks the team has seen all season, with Brianna even recording multiple stuff blocks.

“Jaqueline Martinez and Vianka Meza consistently shone with their anticipation and positioning, making key plays that kept us in the game,” Sill said. “The energy and heart our players displayed were palpable, and it really showed in every rally. This victory gives us great momentum as we head into the MSWAC Tournament this weekend.”
