Liberal Lady Redskins wrestlers secured fourth place with a team score of 149.5 at the Best of the West 2025 tournament highlighted by standout individual performances.
Keirsie Carlile placed second in her division, earning 18.5 points with dominant wins by fall and tech fall before losing in the finals.
Genesis Orrantia finished third and contributed 21 points, including multiple victories by fall and tech fall.
Isabela Gutierrez placed seventh and scored 12 points, and Alexa Valenzuela earned third place with a strong 17-point contribution.
Brianna Pinion and Nicole Catalan each placed ninth in their respective categories.
In the upper-weight classes, Hayleen Martinez went undefeated and claimed first place, earning 30.0 points with a series of quick victories by fall. Aileen Figueroa achieved a commendable second place, adding 24 team points.
At the 40th Annual Scott City Boys Wrestling Classic, Liberal finished 6th with 72.5 points.
Notable performances included Julian Orrantia and Oscar Pablo who both placed second and contributed 19 and 21 points.
Mathew Trejo secured third place in the 215 lb. category, earning 18 points.
At the 40th Annual Scott City Girls Wrestling Classic, the Liberal girls team showcased determined performances, scoring a total of 22 points.
Ingrid Padilla led the team with a second-place finish in the 235 lb. category, contributing 12 points.
Naomi Lizarraga also had a strong showing at 170 lbs., winning two matches by fall and scoring 7 points.
Ariana Cerda at 120 lbs. earned 3 points with one win in the consolation rounds.
