After falling to top seeded Haven at the Halstead Tournament 66-31, the Redskins battled back to defeat fourth seeded Halstead 67-61.

Liberal entered the tournament as the eighth seed and had to rally in the second half to knock off the Dragons.

The Redskins trailed 15-9 after the first quarter, and Halstead extended the lead to 35-25 at half.

But freshman Adrian Moreno-Gonzalez provided a spark for the Redskins in the third quarter by scoring 10 of Liberal’s 24 points in the period, and the Angry Red defense limited Halstead to only 12 points in the quarter. Liberal erased the 10-point deficit and took a 49-47 lead.

The Redskins shot 17 free throws in the fourth quarter and made nine of them to hold on for a 67-61 win.

Moreno-Gonzalez led Liberal with 21 points. Eathan Hernandez scored 16, and James Fieser had 14..
