After dropping the opening game of the Tonganoxie basketball tournament, the Lady Redskins reeled off back-to-back wins to finish fifth.

The only team to beat the Lady Redskins, St. James Academy, went on to win the tournament.

After falling to St.James, the Lady Redskins responded by knocking off Bonner Springs 63-47.

Shamari Lewis led the Lady Redskins with 20 points. Maliyah Mullens scored 12, and Kamilah Delgado and Zoey Torres each had 10.

In the final game of the tournament, the Lady Redskins knocked off host Tonganoxie 63-54.

Liberal trailed 18-15 after the first quarter and by six at half, 32-26.

But the Lady Redskins used three third quarter threes to spark a rally, and the Lady Redskins erased the six-point Tonganoxie advantage and took a 50-41 lead.

The Lady Redskins played even in the fourth quarter to secure the 63-54 win.

Lewis led the Lady Redskins with 20 points, 12 of those in the third quarter. Kiley Rhine had 12.

Lewis was named to the All Tournament Team, and Rhine was recognized as a Three Point Champion.

Liberal moved to 8-5 on the season and will host Woodward at 6 p.m. Friday. The Lady Redskins have lost twice this season to Woodward, both times in Woodward.
