The Seward Lady Saints needed to get a win and did just that with an 86-45 rout of Pratt Community College Saturday on the road.

The Lady Saints improved to 9-7 in the Jayhawk Conference and 14-8 overall. Seward will host Dodge City at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Greenhouse. The Gameday Sponsor is Equity Bank.

The Lady Saints suffered tough back-to-back losses to Cowley and Butler heading into its game against the Beavers. Seward took out its frustration against Pratt from the start and led 21-8 after one and 34-22 at the half.

Seward got off to a slow start in the third as Pratt went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 34-28 with 8:44 remaining. It was all Lady Saints after that. Seward scored the next 13 points and the lead was 19 at 47-28 with 3:48 left.

The Lady Saints held a 58-36 margin after three quarters and did not let up the rest of the way, outscoring the Beavers, 28-9, in the final period.

Avery Marchino had 17 points and four steals, Kylee Hunt added 13 points and Biyyanah Ellis netted 12 points for Seward, which snapped out of a three-point shoot slump, hitting 6-of-14 (42.9 percent).

La'Kyra Johnson had 13 points and Tyriana Stanford scored 12 points for Pratt, which suffered its ninth straight loss, falling to 1-14 in conference play and 6-15 overall.

The Seward County Community College men's basketball team suffered a 65-52 loss at Pratt Community College Saturday.

The Saints dropped to 2-14 in the Jayhawk Conference and 3-18 overall. Seward will host Dodge City at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Greenhouse. The Gameday Sponsor is Equity Bank.

Seward with its deliberate style opened 10-5 lead to start the game, but Pratt came back with a 20-2 run and took a 25-12 advantage with 3:43 left. A trio of three-pointers powered the burst by the Beavers, who were 7-of-17 (41.2 percent from outside the arc. The Saints were down 31-17 at halftime.

Seward could not get any momentum going in the second half, never getting closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Muhammed Jobe had 13 points and Loic Affouman added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Seward.

Hunter Vaugh had 15 points and Jarrett Dingle and Parker Whisenhunt each had 12 points as every Pratt starter scored in double figures.
