Liberal had a rough day in the field and on the mound against Goddard Eisenhower Tuesday and dropped a double header to the Tigers.
Liberal committed nine errors in Game 1, which contributed to a 14-5 loss.
Blayden Betts pitched two innings and allowed two runs, neither of them earned, and Liberal trailed 2-1.
Marco Alonso took over and allowed five runs on six hits in two innings, but only one of those were earned, and Liberal trailed 7-2.
Austin Dodge then took over pitching duties but struggled, allowing six runs on five hits and a walk while recording one out.
Bentlee Betts came on in relief and got the Redskins out of the inning. Liberal added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and trailed 13-4.
Bentlee Betts returned to the mound for the sixth and seventh innings and only allowed one run on two hits, but Liberal was only able to score one run in the sixth and fell 14-5.
Ethan Olmstead led Liberal at the plate with three hits.
Xavier Porras had two hits in the loss.
Skylar Hubbard had a double.
The Redskins committed nine errors and only six of Eisenhower’s 14 runs were earned.
Both teams improved on defense in Game 2, but Liberal was unable to get a hit in a 13-2 loss.
Hubbard took the mound for the Redskins, but gave up six runs on seven hits including a home run while striking out one in tow innings. Liberal trailed 6-1 after two innings.
Alex Schwindt took his turn on the mound and pitched two scoreless innings before struggling in the fifth. He ended the night allowing five runs on four hits before Olmstead relieved Schwindt to record the final tow outs of the fifth inning.
Eathan Hernandez took the mound for the sixth and allowed two runs on two hits and a walk.
The Redskins could not score in the bottom of the sixth and lost by run rule, 13-2.
The Tigers did not allow a hit, but Liberal was able to take advantage of two walks and two Tiger errors to score two runs.
Liberal will host Great Bend at 4 p.m. Friday for a key Western Athletic Conference match-up. Liberal 3-7 overall and 1-1 in the WAC after an earlier split with Garden City. The Redskins will complete a 14-game home stand April 17 when they host the Woodward, Okla., Boomers.
