Instead of heading to Cimarron on a wet Friday afternoon, the Redskins hosted the Blue Jays for a twin bill and split the double header.

The road games were moved to Liberal Friday, and Marco Alonso got the start in Game 1. He tossed two and two thirds innings and allowed two runs on two hits while walking four and striking out five.

The Blue Jays and Redskins each scored a run in the first inning, but the Redskins pushed four across the plate in the second to take a 5-1 lead.

Cimarron added another run in the third.

Bentlee Betts came on in relief in the third and got the final out of the inning and then pitched two outs in the fourth before Blayden Betts took the mound and pitched the final three and a third innings and only allowed one hit and no runs while walking six and striking out two.

The Redskins took advantage of four Blue Jay errors in the 5-2 win.

Austin Dodge had a double and an RBI to lead the Redskins at the plate. Xavier Porras, Landon Martinez, Alonso, Alex Schwindt and Ethan Olmstead each had a hit.

In Game 2, the Redskins defense struggled by committing seven errors in a 16-11 loss.

The Blue Jays took advantage of the miscues early and scored eight runs in the first inning.

The Redskins were only able to push one run across the plate in the first, and the Blue Jays added three more in the second.

Liberal cut the lead to 11-3 after scoring two runs in the second and trimmed another run off the lead in the third.

Schwindt started on the mound and allowed 13 runs, none of them earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out three in four innings.

Austin Dodge took the mound in the fifth after the Blue Jays added a pair of unearned runs against Schwindt, and Dodge was able to get out of the inning.

Eathan Hernandez pitched the final two innings, and after a shutout sixth allowed three runs in the seventh on three hits and a walk while striking out two over his two innings.

The Redskins rallied to score four runs in the seventh but couldn’t get any closer in the 16-11 loss.

Landon Martinez and Alonso led Liberal with a hit and two RBIs each. Blayden Betts had tow hits.

Bren Kappelmann, Schwindt, Bentlee Betts and Skylar Hubbard each had a hit.

The Redskins moved to 6-12 on the season and travel to Great Bend today for a single game against the Panthers (13-4).
