Despite the field conditions, the two teams were able to complete the double header, and Liberal came away with a sweep, winning Game 1 10-5 and Game 2 5-3. Liberal will travel to Hays today for a single game with the Lady Indians (10-8) before returning Thursday for a double header with Hays. Liberal may have won a double header with Class 3A Southwestern Heights, but the Lady Mustangs won respect by pushing the Class 6A Lady Redskins.

The Lady Mustangs fell to 15-3 after the two losses to Liberal, but the Lady Mustangs still lead the Goodland Regional division by three games.

The Lady Redskins moved to 9-9, but they had to earn it.

Liberal jumped out to an early lead in Game 1 but had to survive a late rally by the Lady Mustangs in a 10-5 win.

Zoey Torres pitched all seven innings and survived a four-run seventh. She only allowed five hits while walking one and striking out seven.

Taylor Harding led the Lady Redskins at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Haiden Lyon and Devenay Carter each had two hits and two RBIs.

In Game 2, the Lady Redskins had to survive a defensive battle. The Lady Redskins had a 3-1 lead after the third inning, but the Lady Mustangs took advantage of a Liberal error in the sixth and pushed two runs across the plate for a 3-3 tie.

But the Lady Redskins used two sac flies in the bottom of the seventh to score two runs and escape with a 5-3 win.

Torres had two hits in the win.

Heights outhit Liberal 8-5.
