The Lady Redskins crossed the plate four times in the first inning to take an early lead on the road at Hays, but a rough third inning led to a 10-4 loss.

Hays committed an error in the first inning, and the Lady Redskins took advantage to jump out to an early 4-0 lead with Liberal’s first four batters (freshman Viviana Favila, freshman Haiden Lyon, senior Taylor Harding and senior Zoey Torres all crossing the plate. Torres hit a double and had three RBIs by clearing the bases and then scored herself when junior Miley Janko got a hit.

Hays cut one run off the lead in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Redskins couldn’t get another run.

The Lady Indians took advantage of Lady Redskin errors in the third inning and pushed six runs across the plate to take a 7-4 lead.

Freshman Allie Champion started in the circle, but after the six runs in the third and three more in the fourth, she was relieved by Zoey Torres, who pitched two shutout innings and only allowed tow hits.

But the Lady Redskins couldn’t get runners on base after the first inning. Brooklyn Short hit a double but was stranded, and Lyon drew two walks but couldn’t score, and the Lady Indians earned the 10-4 win.

The win moved Hays to 11-8 while the Lady Redskins fell to 9-10.
