Skylar Hubbard pitched his last game as a starter for the Liberal Redskins in an 11-1 playoff loss to the Maize Eagles.

The 13th seed Redskins kept the game close with the Eagles through three innings. Maize scored a run in the first inning, and the Redskins tied the game 1-1 in the third. But the Eagles blew the game open in the fourth with a seven-run inning to take an 8-1 lead.

The Eagles added two more runs in the fifth and ended the game by run rule in the sixth with a single run for the 11-1 win.

Hubbard pitched four innings and allowed eight runs, only four of those earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out one.

Alex Schwindt came on in relief and pitched an inning and allowed two runs on three hits and a walk.

Kye Morris made an appearance on the mound in the sixth and allowed a run on two hits and a walk.

Landon Martinez led the Redskins at the plate with a hit and an RBI. Ethan Olmstead and Hubbard each had a hit.

Liberal ended the season at 8-18. Maize defeated Liberal and Wichita West to advance to State.
