Seward County earned conferences wins Saturday by sweeping Fort Hays Tech Northwest.

The Lady Saints had a battle for the first quarter before they dominated, 69-43. Seward and Tech were tied 14-14 before the Lady Saints ran away with a 25-7 run in the second quarter to take a 39-21 lead. The Lady Saints continued to add to the lead in the third quarter and had a 58-34 advantage.

Scoring slowed in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Saints still outpaced Tech 11-9 for the 69-43 win.

Destiny Alexander led the Lady Saints with 20 points. Avery Marchino scored 17 points, and A’Neya Chambers came off the bench to score 14.

The Lady Saints made five of 23 three point shots for 23.8 percent and shot a total of 35 percent overall for the game.

The Lady Saints outrebounded Fort Hays Tech NW 53-35.

The Lady Saints (9-3, 4-2) will tip off at 5:30 p.m. against the Lady Broncbusters (9-1, 4-1).

Seward moved to 9-3, tripling its number of wins from the entire season last year (3-26) with a 73-61 win over Fort Hays Tech.

Seward took an early advantage and led 33-24 after the first half.

The Saints added to their lead in the second half with a 40-37 advantage to earn a 73-61 win.

Antonio Williams, Jr., came off the bench to lead the Saints with 20 points. Lucas N’Gombo scored 18 points, and Awit Mamer scored 10 points.

Seward made seven of 23 three-point shots for 30.4 percent and shot 43 percent overall.

The Saints (9-3, 3-2) have a three-game losing streak and will travel to Garden City to face the Broncbusters (8-3, 4-2) Wednesday.
