The Seward County Lady Saints earned a road win on Super Bowl Sunday afternoon at the Max L. Jones Fieldhouse taking down Fort Hays Tech Northwest, 81-41.

Seward (16-8, 11-7 KJCCC) picked up its second consecutive win and swept the regular season series from the Tigers (2-21, 2-15).

The Lady Saints outrebounded Tech 43-27, forced 21 turnovers compared to 15 of their own, outscored the Tigers 34-14 in the paint and led by as much as 42 in the game.

Four Lady Saints scored in double figures led by Avery Marchino who turned in a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double. Kimora Fagan added 18 points, four rebounds and three steals while Destiny Alexander had 14 points and Tyniah Smith posted a double-double off the bench with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

Seward did not trail in the game. Tech cut the Seward lead to 6-4 at the 6:19 mark of the first quarter but Seward outscored them 15-0 the rest of the way to lead 21-4 after one. Seward took a 39-14 advantage to halftime.

Tech scored 20 points in the third quarter, pulling as close as 20 but Seward led 61-34 after three. Seward held Tech to 3-16 shooting in the fourth quarter, cruising to the 40-point win.

The Saints shot 29-65 (44.6 percent) from the field, 9-24 (37.5 percent) from three, and 14-22 (63.6 percent) from the free throw line.

The Lady Saints hosted Garden City Wednesday and escaped with a three-point victory, 81-78, thanks to a fourth quarter comeback.
