James Fieser scored 22 points in a 72-62 win against Southwestern heights Friday which was just enough to reach 1,000 points in his career.
Fieser added 20 more points against Great Bend Monday in an 83-61 loss.
“I picked up a leadership role my sophomore year,” Fieser said. “Being one of the only seniors that plays a lot, we have to pick the younger guys up. If we make a mistake we move on.”
Fieser also looks to open the path for his teammates.
“My game has progressed in a way for me being able to make plays for others,” he said. “I try to put them in the right spot to get points. Every game, a lot of teams face guard me, and that provides opportunities for others. “
At 2-18, Liberal is eliminated form the playoffs, but not from seeking a win tonight in Garden City.
“We are playing for pride,” Fieser said. “We haven’t won the games we wanted, but we will play for pride.”
