GARDEN CITY — Liberal couldn’t buy a basket in the first half, and Garden City almost couldn’t miss. That combination led to a lead for the Buffaloes in a 64-43 Redskin loss.
Garden City opened the game on an 11-0 run that included a pair of threes and strong moves to the basket, and the Redskins committed several turnovers and couldn’t get the ball through the hoop when they had chances.
By the end of the first quarter, Liberal trailed 15-4.
The onslaught continued in the second quarter with the Buffaloes dropping 19 more points while the Redskins only scored six to trail 34-10 at half.
James Fieser found his stride in the second half and scored 16 of his 18 points after the break, but it was too little, too late. Liberal played even in the third quarter and trailed 46-21 after the third quarter and won the fourth 22-18, and Liberal fell 64-43.
Liberal plays at Dodge City tonight.
