The Lady Redskins had a slim 3-2 lead midway through the fifth inning against Dodge City Tuesday in a key Western Athletic Conference road game, but a late collapse allowed the Red Demons to come away with a 13-3 run rule win.

Liberal got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Lady Red demons answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame to take the lead.

Neither team scored until the top of the fifth, when Liberal pushed two runs across the plate for a 3-2 lead.

But the Lady Red Demons chased Zoey Torres out of the circle in the bottom half of the fifth with seven runs to take a 9-3 lead, and Miley Janko allowed four more in the sixth for the 13-3 win.

Taylor Harding had two of Liberal’s five hits in the loss.Janko, Marypher Lopez and Avah Herrera each had a hit.

Torres pitched five innings and allowed nine runs on six hits including two home runs and two walks while striking out three.

Janko tossed one-third of an inning and allowed four runs on four hits.

Liberal hosts Dodge City today.
