After dropping the first game of a double header 9-1, the Lady Redskins rallied for a 17-7 run-rule win in the nightcap.

Dodge City took a 4-0 lead in the second inning, but Liberal cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the inning.

Dodge jumped out 6-2 before the Lady Redskins scored nine runs, all with two outs, in the third and added five more in the fifth to take a 16-7 lead.

Lizzie Mannel hit a walk-off double in the sixth to score the game-winning run.

The Western Athletic Conference win was the first for the team.

“These girls came through,” Liberal coach Breanna Kelly said. “They played the softball I thought they could play all year.”

Liberal hosted Garden City Friday.
