Liberal continued to finish games strong Friday in a 5-2 WAC win over Garden City.

The win tied Liberal for third in the WAC with Dodge City. Garden City went 0-8 in the WAC.

Garden City opened with a run in the first to take an early lead and added another run in the fourth.

Liberal tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and then scored three more runs in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead.

Liberal didn’t allow another run to secure the win.

Zayden Martinez, Skylar Hubbard, Marco Alonso and Erek Lira combined on the mound to allow two runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out eight.

Brooks Kappelmann and Martinez each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Liberal at the plate.

Blayden Betts, Landon Martinez, Xavier Porras, Hubbard, Alex Schwindt and Aiden Miramontes each had a hit.

Liberal plays Derby today.
