Donald D. “Donnie” Knier Sr., 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 in Kiowa County.
He was born Sept. 10, 1941 to Scherel and Gertrude (Haight) Knier.
He was a third-generation farmer.
He married Peggy Ann Kirkland in 1959. They later divorced.
He married Naomi Decker in 1994. She preceded him in death.
He was a true craftsman, leaving his mark as a farmer, cabinet maker, and a builder of custom houses.
He enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction that came from rebuilding vehicles, a testament to his resourcefulness and skill.
He also enjoyed time spent at the family cabin in Colorado, where he made lasting memories with loved ones and the beauty of nature.
Survivors include sons, Donnie Knier Jr. and his wife, Tonya, Hugoton, and David Knier, Hugoton; daughter, Lori Carroll and husband, Kelly, Pampa, Texas; son-in-law, Jan Leonard and companion, Julie Hefner, Goddard; brother-in-law, Larry Raney, Hugoton; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Knier Leonard; and sister, Vonda Raney.
• Celebration of Life took place Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024 at Hugoton Methodist Church in Hugoton.
Burial will take place at a later date.
A memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities, in the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
