Lillie Pearl Johnson, 83, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024 in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born Feb. 7, 1941 to James Kemp and Zata Esma Cook.
She married Wallace Dene Johnson Dec. 20 of her senior year. He preceded her in death.
She was saved at an early age at Mountain View Baptist Church in Logan, Okla., and baptized at First Baptist Church in Booker, Texas. She attended the Congregational Church east of Darrouzett and Friends Church at Booker.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She worked at various restaurants in the area as a cook, with her last job at Twin Oaks Manor in Booker, Texas, where she retired in 2012.
She enjoyed watching western movies, especially the black and white ones. She spent many hours working word search puzzles. She enjoyed being outside with nature, especially her cats and bird watching.
She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Randall Johnson, Perryton, Texas; daughter, Alice Babineaux and husband, Felix Babineaux, Liberal; sisters, Arlena Hickman, Lebanon, Ohio, and Wanda Harris, Elk City, Okla.; brothers, Vernon Kemp, Darrouzett, Texas, and Donald Kemp, Dumas, Texas; granddaughter, Alyssa Babineaux, Liberal; grandson, Aaron Babineaux, Liberal, Kansas; great-granddaughters, Laya Babineaux and Skyla Babineaux; great-grandson, Casey Babineaux; three sisters-in-law: Lois Hawkins, Kansas City, Mo., Ann Jones, Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Alice Johnson, Clarksdale, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law: Mickey Kemp, Doris Hill and Betty Johnson; and brothers-in-law: Lenney Hickman, J.R. Harris, Lloyd Johnson, Jim Johnson, Ralph Johnson, Virgil Johnson and Charlie Hill.
• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Darrouzett, Texas, with Ernie Miller presiding.
Burial will follow at the Darrouzett Cemetery in Darrouzett, Texas.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Booker, Texas.
