MEADE – Tommy Leo Perkins, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.

He was born May 11, 1939 to Harold and Eunice (Wilcox) Perkins.  

He married Judy Taylor Bennett Feb. 19, 1985. She survives.

He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1959. 

After graduation, he then began working for the local lumberyard and later for Gibson’s as a manager and buyer until the business sold.  

In 1995, he purchased the Chuck Wagon Restaurant and Truck Stop in Meade, operating it with his family for many years.

He enjoyed woodworking, building barn doors, working, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors also include his children: Russell Perkins, Crandall, Texas, Brenda Murray, Nocona, Texas, Stephanie West and husband Kerry, Meade, Vicky Cruise, Meade, Susan Thomas, Presho, S.D., and Beth Bryant, Fort Scott; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harold Perkins.

• In accordance with Tommy’s wishes, a private burial will take place later at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.
