MEADE – Bruce Robert Looney, 67, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.
He was born January 24, 1958, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Robert and Ella Alice Ruby (Bates) Looney.
He married Betty Looney in 1978. The couple later divorced, and she preceded him in death.
He married Laura D. Gilcrease Jan. 13, 2006. She preceded him in death May 30, 2017.
He attended Sunnyside Elementary School and Dodge City Junior High. He later moved to Ensign, where he attended Ensign High School, graduating in 1976.
He moved to Meade in 2010 and worked as a truck driver, EMT, and HAMM Radio operator.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade.
He enjoyed HAMM radios, computers, storm spotting, electronics, guns, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include daughters, Heather Crites, Quinter, and Leah Looney, Meade; stepson, Dustin Terry, Liberal; brother, Dave Looney and wife, Myrna, Topeka; sister, Alicia Unruh, Independence; grandchildren, Cierra and Brady Albin; and great-granddaughter, Aurora.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade.
Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery in Meade.
