JOHNSON – Eddie Joe Batterton, 67, died Feb. 23, 2025, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson.
He was born April 19, 1957 to Joseph and Jacqueline (Scrivner) Batterton.
He married Cindy Whittington July 19, 1980. She survives.
He graduated from Johnson High School in 1975. He then attended Northwest Kansas Area Vo-Tech in Goodland, where he studied automotive body, paint and repair.
He was a farmer, carpenter, upholsterer, mechanic, owned Hairy Ed’s Carpet Cleaning with his son, Wylie, and was owner and operator of Batterton Automotive.
He was a lifelong member of the Manter United Methodist Church.
Survivors also include his mother; daughter, Darci Diane Batterton; sister, Evelyn Hacker and husband, Chuck; brother, Lynn Batterton and wife, Lisa; four grandchildren: Blaze, Belle, Birdie, and Bristol Batterton; and great-grandchild, Oaklee.
He was preceded in death by his father; and son, Wylie Joe Batterton.
• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, with Reverend Jacques Kambol presiding.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery.
