Rodney Lynn Kapp, 72, died Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born June 17, 1952 to Morris and Marilyn (Slemp) Kapp.
He married Carolyn Hardin Dec. 21, 1972. She survives.
He was a graduate of Liberal High School with the Class of 1970.
He currently worked for the City of Liberal overseeing the CityBus operations, a position that he loved and was very pleased with the approval of the new Bus Barn.
He had previously worked in oilfield supervision for 40 plus years with Amoco, BP, and Linn Energy.
He enjoyed camping at Meade Lake, Scott City, and Monument Lake in Colorado. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, taking care of his yard, car racing, and was an avid baseball and ladies basketball fan.
Survivors include son, Kenny Kapp and wife, Tammy, Liberal; daughter, Kim Kapp Tanking and husband, Terry, Liberal; sisters, Cheri Adams and husband, Bill, Yukon, Okla., and Darla "Susie" Conner, Olathe; brothers, Robin Kapp and wife, Lori, La Palma, Calif., and Kim Kapp, Overland Park; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
• There will be no viewing as per Rodney's wishes, and cremation has taken place.
Celebration of Life services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025 at the First Southern Baptist Church, with Todd Brown presiding.
