Joan Joye (Brinkmeyer) Schweer, 81, died Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Shepherd's Center in Cimarron.

She was born July 1, 1943 to Charles and Joye (Smith) Brinkmeyer.

She married Vernon Schweer Aug. 12, 1962 at the Garden City Lutheran Church.

She was an active member of the Lutheran church communities in both Garden City and Olsburg.

She began her career as a bookkeeper at Lewis, Hooper and Dick, later working for several years with Winger Cattle Company.

With Vernon and their children, she raised sheep and was a dedicated supporter of 4-H and FFA members and their families.

Survivors include daughters, Sonya Joan Roberts and her husband, Rickey, and Sara Suzan Gleason; son, Matthew Samuel Schweer; sisters, Juanita Regehr, and Charlene Neill; seven grandchildren; Bryce Roberts (Haley), SaRae Graves (Joe), Landon Roberts, Bryleigh Schweer, Caden Schweer, Grady Gleason, Grayson Gleason; and great-granddaughter, Raleigh Graves.

She was preceded in death by her son, Vernon Raymond Schweer II; and other relatives.

• Funeral services took place Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City, with Pastor Mike Hageman officiating.

Burial took place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A memorial has been established for the Joan Schweer Memorial, benefiting Finney County 4-H and Garden City High School FFA. Those wishing to contribute can send memorials to Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City, KS 67846.
