ULYSSES – William “Bill” Roger Bain, 89, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at SunPorch of Dodge City in Dodge City.
He was born May 10, 1936 to William and Pearl (Warnecka) Bain.
He married Joann Grace Moss in 1962 in Minnesota. She preceded him in death.
He worked as the superintendent for Popejoy Construction and was instrumental in building several of the roads in Kansas and surrounding states.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed watching NASCAR and football.
He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with them and share their accomplishments.
Survivors include his children: Cathy Norman and husband, Travis, William “Bill” Bain and fiancée, Caroline, and Scott Bain; siblings: Richard “Dick” Bain and wife, Penny, Alvera “Sis” Ableman, Doreen Bain, Roy Bain, Larry Bain, Phillis Sandberg, Alice Bain, Steve Bain, Jeff Bain, Maxine Stierns, Kevin Bain, and Dale Bain; grandchildren: Rebecca Norman, Tracie Garvin, Megan Johnson and husband, Drew, Heather Bain, Anthony Bain, William “Billy” Bain, Dallas Bain, Dakota Bain, Jordan Bain, Kourtney O’Neal, and Dezara Barton; and great-grandchildren: Tristin, Sage, Gage, Travis, Cooper, Juniper, Tatum, Killiam, Emma, Kenna, Winston, Autumn, Riley, Audrey, Billy and Brycen.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings: Bud Bain, Lourline Kahles and Jimmy Bain.
• Memorial services will take place in Minnesota at a later date.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.
