Johnnie Ruth Love, 90, passed away Thursday June 12, 2025 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born April 29, 1935, in Brownsville, Tenn. to Bennie Mills and Sally Ann Campbell.
On May 19, 1966 she married Robert Love Sr. in Liberal.
Affectionately known to many simply as “Johnnie Ruth,” she dedicated the majority of her professional life to serving others. For an impressive 38 years, she was a Certified Medical Aide at Liberal Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home, where her acts of kindness and dedication to care giving touched the lives of countless residents and their families. Her commitment to caring for the elderly and those in need filled her heart with joy, and her warmth left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. After retiring in 2011, she remained a beacon of love, ever eager to support her friends and family.
Kindness was the cornerstone of her personality. Always wearing a smile, Johnnie Ruth exuded a welcoming spirit that drew people to her. She was known for her generosity and ability to connect with others, weaving her life through shared moments of laughter and love. Memories of her resonate in the hearts of those whose lives she enriched.
A myriad of interests enveloped Johnnie Ruth’s life. She found joy in collecting cookbooks, where recipes were not simply instructions to prepare food but vessels of love to share with others. Fishing offered her quiet moments of reflection, while crossword puzzles and playing cards-especially her favorite game, Spades-provided delightful challenges and camaraderie with loved ones.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Love Sr.; her sons, Robert Love Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Duncan, Okla., and Rodney Williams and his wife, Olvidia of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughters: Anna King and her husband Welford of Chicago, Minnie Turner and her husband Douglas of Brownsville, Tenn., Vickie Love, Liberal, and Aleisa Love of Liberal; daughter-in-law, Sandra Love of Liberal; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Johnnie Ruth will be remembered not only for her profound impact on her family and friends but also for how she embraced life's simplest pleasures with grace and joy. She reunites in eternal rest with her parents; her cherished son, Danny Love; brother, Walter Williams; and sisters Alma Bond and Virginia Cooper.
• Per Johnnie Ruth's wishes, there will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
Memorial services honoring her remarkable life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 18, 2025 at Community Baptist Church in Liberal
