FOWLER – Eunice R. Padgett, 92, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.
She was born July 16, 1933 to Elmer and Lula (Nichols) Gardner.
She graduated from Fowler High School in 1950. While in high school, she developed a love for art and had her design for the Fowler Goldbug chosen for the yearbook cover.
She married Kenneth (Kenny) Padgett Sept. 22, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2018.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fowler and the Christian Matrons. She served by teaching Sunday school, leading worship songs and helping with the youth programs.
She was a talented seamstress and would sew outfits for loved ones as well as make quilts and doll clothing. She also spent time learning from local expert artists and would go on to create many oil and acrylic paintings.
She also served on the Meade County Extension, was a part of the CCC Club, bridge club, and loved a good game of cards or round of Scrabble.
Survivors include her sons: Larry Padgett and wife, Sonya, Meade, Jeff Padgett and wife, Marshan, Meade, and Mike Padgett, Abilene; sister, Ardith Hansen, Cunningham; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Orel and Carrol (Red) Gardner; and sisters, Gevene Sutton and Grace Wegley.
• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Fowler.
Burial will follow at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
