ULYSSES – Patricia Ann (Getty) Steen, 96, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.
She was born Jan. 11, 1929 to William Getty and Hazel (McStay) Getty on the Getty farm north of Downs.
She graduated from Downs High School and Washburn University in Topeka with a teaching degree.
She was married to Lawrence Steen.
She enjoyed sports, and she and Larry were very good at bowling and golf. They traveled to play golf and bowl in tournaments and to see the Detroit Tigers baseball team play. She was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
She was also a collector and collected stuffed animals, especially pigs. She also collected coins, stamps, and small figures.
She loved putting puzzles together, doing the daily crossword from the newspaper and reading.
She loved working in her yard and raised a variety of plants.
She had plenty of nieces and nephews to mourn her passing, along with her friend Judy Mills and baby brother Steven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; brother; and her beloved husband, Lawrence Steen.
• A private burial will take place at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses at a later date.
