Tobby Eugene Schield, 48, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025 at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
He was born April 27, 1977 to Leslie Ann Schield and was raised by his grandparents, Ed and Shirley Schield.
He graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in 1995.
He married Lysa Rose Crum Aug. 1, 1998. She survives.
He loved hunting deer and elk, fishing, trail riding, and camping in Colorado. Some of his happiest moments were weekends at Coldwater, tubing and floating on the lake, and grilling with friends.
He loved building and racing hobby stock cars in Beaver, Liberal, Hugoton, and Dodge City,. He took pride in thinking creatively and finding unique solutions in mechanics. He worked as a diesel mechanic in Liberal for several trucking companies before starting his own trucking business.
Survivors also include daughters, Jessica Schield and fiancé, Ethan Brungardt, Hays, and Jaylee Schield, Sublette; brothers, James Person, Hitchcock, Okla., and Anthony Person, Hitchcock, Okla.; and his in-laws, Michael and Rose Crum, Sublette.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Shirley Schield; and his mother.
• There is no viewing as cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 at the Commercial Building on the Haskell County Fairgrounds, with Pastor Aaron Koehn officiating.
